Montana |
A homeopathic remedy useful for all
sorts of sprains, strains, and falls.
Useful to treat head injuries,
before surgery or dental work, after surgery and dental work, any blows,
blunt traumas, and bruises. It is also useful for jet lag and any type of
overexertion with resulting sore muscles.
Patient has a fear of being touched.
There is bruising, and black and blue marks, with swelling. There may be a
sore, lame, and bruised feeling all over the body.
The usual dose is Arnica 9C or 30C with repeat
doses given every 1/2 hour to an hour following injury. This is one of the
most important remedies to use in event of any kind of
trauma. |
| Bryonia |
This remedy is useful to aches and
pains throughout the body where every movement hurts.
It is useful for injuries to joints,
knees, elbows, shoulder joints, and sprains of joints. Bryonia is useful
for broken ribs, where breathing causes a lot of pain. This is a general
remedy for the treatment of bursitis, and slipped disc, where a person
cannot move because of the pain.
All symptoms are worse for motion, there are
sharp stabbing pains, and pain is better from pressing on it. The patient
is usually very thirsty and has a desire to drink large gulps of
water. |
Hypericum Perforatum |
Also known as St. John's Wort. Use
this remedy for the treatment of tail bone injuries, and injuries to toes
and fingers, all puncture wounds, bruised nerves, relieving pain after an
operation. It is also used to treat problems following injections and pain
following spinal tap.
There are sharp shooting pains, the
pain radiates down the limbs, and there is tingling, burning, and numbness
of an injured part. |
Ledum Palustre |
Useful for all puncture
wounds, wounds from rusty nails, insect stings, bruises and black eyes
that remain discolored for a lengthy period of time even after taking
arnica. Wounds feel better from cold compresses, cold feeling around the
wound, extreme tenderness, and the wound is blue or purple, sore and
achy. |
Rhus Tox |
Useful for all stiffness of joints
of back after injuries. Also useful for the treatment of poison ivy,
injuries from strain or lifting, arthritic conditions, and chronic
injuries that flare up before a storm or change of weather.
Patient is worse on starting to
move, better after moving for a while. The patient feels worse during cold
wet weather. The patient feels better upon rubbing or massaging the
affected part.
They are worse due to change of weather and
they are a barometer for coming changes of weather. They love warm
showers, and warm weather, and are better for warm
compresses. |
Ruta |
Injuries to ligaments, and any
connective tissue such as tennis elbow, and Achilles tendon. It is also
useful for sprains, inflamed or injured bunions.
The patient is worse for cold damp weather,
worse when lying down, and has a bruised feeling. |
Symphytum |
This remedy is useful following
fractures to bones to accelerate the healing process. |
Natrum Sulphuricum |
This is one of the most
important remedies for head trauma. It is useful when arnica is not
working for the injury. It can be administered alternately with arnica and
is most helpful to help reduce deep swelling in the tissues of the
head. |

Bellis Perennis |
This remedy is useful
for bruises to the muscles and blood vessels, causing dark black and blue
spots. |

Aconite |
Useful for onset of sore
throat, symptoms are sudden and patient was exposed to cold dry winds.
There is a red, dry swollen throat. |
Belladonna |
This remedy is used for acute
tonsillitis. The tonsils are noticeable red, usually scarlet red. Burning
pains, and a desire to swallow, even though it hurts so much to do it.
There is a feeling of constriction in the throat, even swallowing water is
difficult. The head is very hot, but the extremities are
cold. |
Ferrum Phosphoricum |
This remedy is used when
the sore throat does not come on suddenly. The throat is red and swollen,
and it is painful to swallow, usually cold compresses relieve the pain.
The pain is not severe. |
Hepar Sulphur |
This remedy is used when
the tonsils are enlarged and there is a collection of pus. The tonsils
throb painfully, and hot drinks provide relief. |
Lachesis |
This remedy is indicated when the
sore throat appears to be worse on the left side.
The left gland in the throat is more swollen
and there is a tickling feeling in the throat. The throat is very
sensitive to touch and the patient usually cannot stand to wear anything
tight around its neck. |
Mercurius |
The patient has a cold that settled
in the throat and that has caused it to become sore.
The patient feels a lot of pain and there is a
lot of redness and swelling, with burning pain. Sometimes the throat pain
extends to the ear. There are swollen lymph glands and swollen
tonsils. |
Coughs

Bryonia |
Bronchitis, chest cold,
cough centers around the upper chest, patient is very dry, and has very
extreme desire for cold drinks. |
Gelsemium |
Patient has cough that
is very scratchy accompanied by a cold or the flu and aches all over. The
cough is centered on the lower throat. |
Ignatia |
Hoarse, hacking cough
that irritates the throat. The symptoms usually are accompanied by mental
symptoms of grief, hopelessness, or hysteria. Patient may have laryngitis
and chills. |
Antimonium Tartarticum |
This is useful for a
respiratory disease that has its onset in warm damp surroundings. There
may be asthma symptoms, with bronchitis, and chest congestion. There is a
rattling cough. This remedy may be useful in cases of pneumonia where
there is a blockage of air passages and mucous blocks the windpipe
creating a feeling of suffocation. Symptoms may be worse at 4 a.m., and
the patient may have to sit up rather than lie down to breathe. Useful
when there are respiratory blockages in the air passages of newborn
babies. |
Phosphorus |
There is a hard dry
cough, almost a barking sound, with a persistent tickle. Bronchitis and
hoarseness, with painful laryngitis. Patient is very cold and shivering
and can't stand to have the windows open. |
Spongia |
Dry Asthma symptoms.
Croup. Difficult breathing. This type of cough usually gets worse around
midnight. The cough is from a very deep place in the lungs. This cough is
worse from cold air, warm rooms, and warm foods or drinks give some
relief. |

Gelsemium |
Colds, flu, fever, aching bones,
aches all over. Is usually the remedy of choice following fright, bad
news, or excitement. Bad news brings on physical illness. No
thirst. |
Bryonia |
The patient has an
aches- all-over feeling, sneezes often, accompanied by a headache. The
mouth is dry, and the patient is very thirsty and may also have a cough.
They feel worse in a warm room and need to drink large amounts of
water. |
Allium Cepa |
This remedy is used when
there are copious amounts of watery discharge from the nose and eyes. The
patient has reddened eyes and a raw feeling in the nose and may be
sneezing a lot. |
Arsenicum |
The patient has a
burning, runny cold that irritates the nostrils and the upper lip. There
is a lot of sneezing and the cold descends from the nose and moves down
into the throat. The patient can only tolerate small sips of water at a
time. |
Aconite |
Use this remedy at the
first onset of a cold. Usually the patient develops symptoms after
exposure to dry cold weather, being in an air conditioning or fan
draft. |
Anas Barbariae |
Also marketed as
Oscillococcinum. This remedy is helpful in treating the common cold, and
is most effective when used within forty-eight hours of the onset of
symptoms. This remedy is useful when you're not sure what to give. |

Arsenicum |
The patient feels
throbbing and burning pains in the sinuses. These pains can be aggravated
by light, noise, movement, and get worse after midnight. The patient can
get some relief by lying in an elevated position and with cool air in the
room. |
Hepar Sulphur |
This remedy is useful
when the person has been exposed to cold air. The discharge from their
nose is thick and yellowish in colors. The nostrils may become very sore
from the nasal discharge. The person may be feeling a kind of bursting
sensation in the head. |
Kali Bichromium |
The patient may have a
thick, very stringy nasal discharge. The pains are worse form the cold,
from noise, walking, bending over, and by light. They are usually worse in
the morning upon awakening or at 9 a.m. They feel better when they are
warm and are given warm drinks. |
Pulsatilla |
There is nasal discharge
and the person is worse in a warm room. They have a need for fresh air and
are worse from being overheated in any way. The nasal discharge is usually
thick and yellow or green. |
Silicea |
This is one of the most
common remedies indicated for chronic sinusitis. They have a stuffed nose
all the time and they feel as if their head will burst. The head pain is
usually worse in one eye and is aggravated by studying. |
Sulphur |
When other remedies
don't seem to work, it is good to consider administering sulphur. The
patient dislikes being warm and always needs to have the windows open in
order to get air. They throw their blankets off and always feel warm.
These people have a tendency to dislike bathing. This remedy is good for
suppressed problems, such as after using medication that didn't clear the
problem. |

Bryonia |
This is indicated for
acute conditions that develop slowly, which are made worse by any
movement. The patient desires several sips of cold water. This is for
disordered digestion with a feeling of a stone in the abdomen. Nausea and
vomiting are worse for motion. All the pains are better for pressure. |
Arsenicum Album |
This is one of the
commonly prescribed remedies for diarrhea. It is often used for nausea and
vomiting. The patient is chilly and feels worse if exposed to cold. The
symptoms are worse after midnight. The abdomen is sensitive to touch, and
feels better from gentle warm applications. Warm drinks may be soothing,
and there are burning pains in the stomach. Although the person may be
thirsty, they take only small sips of water at a time. This remedy is most
often indicated for food poisoning, especially after contaminated fish,
contaminated water supplies, and spoiled foods. |
Lachesis |
This remedy is often
indicated for severe stomach viruses. The patient cannot tolerate anything
tight around the body. The pains are usually left sided, or left moving
towards the right. The pains are pressing and sharp. |
Chamomile |
This remedy is useful if
symptoms come on after a temper tantrum in children or a fit of anger. The
person is extremely irritable and cross. They demand something, and then
they refuse it once it is offered. The person may have a distended
abdomen, and even if they pass gas it does not alleviate their symptoms.
There may be diarrhea that tends to be green and foul smelling. This type
of remedy is useful when a person does not want warm drinks. |
Ipecac |
If there is a persistent
nausea and it is not relieved by vomiting this is the remedy of choice.
They have little thirst and feel disgust for food. They feel nauseated
after eating. Their abdomen is bloated and very tender. Ipecac is
indicated when the stomach is relatively empty and they still feel
nauseated. |
Lycopodium |
A person may have gas
and feel bloated after anything they eat. They dislike any tight clothing
around the body. The worst time of day for this type of person is between
4-8p.m. |
Nux Vomica |
This remedy is for
digestive upsets after long periods of mental or emotional stress, or also
indicated when overindulgence in food, alcohol, or drugs has taken place.
The person may want to vomit but retches, and may be unsuccessful. There
may be a tendency to heartburn, bloating, and intestinal gas, and
continuous constipation. There may be a headache accompanying this
problem. |

Belladonna |
Headaches come on
suddenly and with great violence. There is a tremendous amount of heat,
and the skin may be bright red. There is an intense burning with
congestion and throbbing all over. The head may be hot, but the
extremities cold. Patient is worse from lying down and needs to lay with
the head and shoulders elevated. Throbbing, pressing and boring feeling
accompanies this headache. |
Gelsemium |
The headache has a
general soreness. The patient feels as if there is a tight band around the
head. The headache is accompanied by a muscular soreness around the neck
and shoulders. They are worse from exposure to sun, from warmth, and from
hot, local applications. They are better off by lying down with their head
raised by pillows. Urination usually brings some relief. |
Bryonia |
A person needing this remedy with
severe headache may feel as if their head might burst. The slightest
motion brings on a sharp pain, even moving their eyes. They must be
perfectly quiet. There is some relief by applying a firm type of pressure.
The pain is usually throbbing in the forehead and behind the eyes. The
symptoms are usually worse from the heat of the sun and from being in a
warm room. |
Natrum Muriaticum |
There is a throbbing or
busting migraine headache, usually in the front part of the head. The
person may be pale and feel very nauseous. There is some relief by
sleeping. |
Nux Vomica |
The headache is usually
in the back of the head or over the eyes. The person feels as if their
head is splitting or sore. There may be an accompanying dizziness. They
are worse for movement or any mental effort. They are better for warmth,
lying down, or covering their head. This headache usually comes on from
too much food or alcohol. This is a good remedy of choice for a person who
is hung over with the "morning after" feeling. They are oversensitive and
irritable. |
Pulsatilla |
People who need this
remedy usually have been over-eating especially fats or ice cream. The
head pains are worse in the evening, in warm rooms, in bed, when stooping
or coughing. Being in the open air helps, as does cold applications and
lying with the head high. The head usually feels hot. They are depressed
and weepy, not at all thirsty, and this headache may be associated with
menstrual periods. |

Aconite |
The external ear is
usually painful and hot. The person may feel throbbing pain after exposure
to cold and they are very sensitive to music or noise. There is usually a
fever accompanying this earache and also a congested nose. |
Belladonna |
This is often prescribed
for ear infection when the person has a reddened ear, ear canal, or
eardrum and they have a flushed face. The symptoms come on suddenly,
especially exposure to a cold draft, or after getting their hair cut. The
pains throb and pierce and usually extend to the throat. They feel better
sitting semi-erect and are soothed by warm applications. They usually have
a fever and a sore throat that feels hot. |
Chamomilla |
This type of earache
leaves the person in great pain. They demand things but usually refuse
them once they are given. They are impatient and cannot be consoled at
all. Cold air and cold winds aggravate the pains. The tearing pains in the
ears lead them to cry. The crying is usually very, very loud. There could
be an accompanying problem with teething. |
Ferrum Phosphoricum |
This remedy is usually
administered during the early stages of an ear inflammation. There is a
slower onset and the pains are less intense. |
Hepar sulphur |
The child is usually
hypersensitive. The ears are extremely sensitive to touch and cold. The
child may be very irritable and throws tantrums. They may feel sharp,
splinter like pains in their ears. |
Pulsatilla |
This is often the most
indicated remedy for ear infection. The problem comes with or after a
cold. The ear pains are worse at night, and may be quite excruciating.
Some relief is felt from cool applications. The child may feel his ear is
stopped. They are generally not thirsty and maybe very weepy. A person
needing this remedy loves sympathy and attention and they are very soothed
by this. |
